Going Beyond "Chiropractic"
Do you really know what a chiropractor does? Are you scared of chiropractors? Do you think all chiropractors are the same? Do you think all chiropractors do is "crack" you? Have you heard that once you start seeing a chiropractor you have to keep going back over and over again for a long time?
value for your healthcare dollar.
I’m here to tell you that there’s something different available. My work focuses on optimizing your body function. No matter what your specific problem is, I look at the WHOLE being that is you. Your body is magnificent at compensating when there is stress and damage. My job is to be a detective and look through all those layers of compensation. I find patterns that you have developed in order to cope with your daily life. I then help you unwind those patterns, and show you how to strengthen weak areas so problems don’t show up over and over again. I want to help you find the true cause of the issue you’re dealing with, in order to give you a natural non-invasive, long-term solution.
For example: low back pain could be caused by a foot problem, poor digestion, imbalanced nutrition, or even from a head that tilts too far forward. There are many possible reasons for the pain, and none of them may be a problem with the low back itself. (flow chart graphic)
Chiropractic is about organizing your body so it can do whatever it needs to do. Without this organization, you can exercise all you want to and a weak muscle will stay a weak muscle. Since your brain directs your body what to do, the goal of chiropractic is to help your brain communicate with your body. Once the body gets the information it needs and can relay information back to the brain, healing can take place. This can be compared to any job. The brain is the boss, and the employee is the body. If the employee doesn’t get the right instructions, the resulting work will be poor quality or not get done at all. If the boss has to make decisions based on the poor quality work, you can see how this snowballs into a giant problem in no time.
Correction of a problem may involve dietary changes and exercises, but the chiropractic doesn't have to be about "cracking" something into place. A chiropractic adjustment is anything that removes interference with your brain regulating your body. This might involve vision exercises, using light, smell, touch, or sound, using balance exercises, puzzles to activate your brain, stretching, pressure points, and much, much more.
Example: (look for graphics of woman in pain)
A female patient had neck pain that would shoot down into her right arm. She had been told by her MD that she had a “slipped” disc, and she was given a cortisone injection and a muscle relaxant prescription. She was sent to physical therapy and after 6 weeks (18 visits), she was told that if she didn’t get relief soon, they would discuss surgery. When I examined her, she told me that she had hit her head right before the neck pain started. She was told by the MD and PT that she didn’t hit it hard enough to cause the disc problem. My exam showed a major visual shift, cranial imbalances, and muscular imbalances in the neck and shoulder. I referred her to a behavioral optometrist who changed her prescription for her glasses, and she reported a 50% decrease in her neck pain right away. I provided cranial work, and did some muscle “reset” work to balance the strength in the shoulder. I also showed her stretches to do and she started a natural anti-inflammatory supplement. After 6 weeks (6 visits), she was completely pain free and her glasses had to be changed again because her vision had improved so much. Now, she comes in for periodic checkups to make sure the muscles are staying balanced and her vision is not compromising her structure. Not once did I “crack” anything. Not once did I touch where she supposedly had a disc problem. Now she knows what stretches to do to maintain her correction, and she knows how to spot signs that she may be imbalanced and needs a checkup or a new correction.
Knowing that you have the tools to be able to “fix” yourself (and using them) is a powerful thing. Knowing when to ask for help is equally powerful. I don't want to see you over and over again for the same problem with no result. I don't want to adjust the same few joints on you over and over for years on end. I am offering to show you how to NOT need me. How to minimize damage and degeneration. How to truly FIX a problem.
